Poisonous Pesticides

We all know in order to be healthy, we need to consume an adequate amount of fresh fruit and vegetables.  But what if you discovered that what you were eating was sprayed with a deadly poison that had been banned in most countries around the world? What if you were living near these dangerous chemicals which put you and your loved ones at risk? Disturbingly, this is happening – and the consequences are deadly.  This shocking clip was recently aired on Sixty Minutes and forwarded to me by a client of mine.  It dramatically highlights many important reasons why we should be avoiding pesticide ridden fruits and vegetables and how much it affects us on an even wider scale.

Of course I’d love to hear your thoughts, and I urge you to pass this on to everyone you know…PLEASE!

  • Oh my goodness, this is just heartbreaking to see. Thank you for sharing these videos. I have come across these stories in the past and they are a good reminder that regardless of the price of our weekly shopping, we should continue to eat only organic and live with as much integrity as we can.

I remember once thinking that so long as food came from countries such as Australia (esp. when I was living in NZ) then I'd most likely be fine. However, when I learned that hockey fields in NZ are sprayed with a chemical banned in Europe and that the USA still manufactures chemicals that are banned there, but sells them to Mexico and other countries that it then buys the food back... Well, it seems to me that we have to be more careful than ever. It seems that parts of society are not about living at all. To finish on a brighter note though, where I live I can walk into my local small supermarket and get all my groceries organic and local. That is such a step forward from where things were even five years ago.

Isn't this disgusting!?! I got so fired up after this, words can't even describe!!! On fear of launching into a rant, I kept words to a minimum on the post, I wanted the story to speak for itself. I also read the online chat that was on after this show originally aired. There were people who made some very interesting observations, in regards to their own families illnesses (particularly neural ie: Parkinsons Disease) and the fact they were surrounded by Macadamia Farms and had been for some time. Naturally the government organisation is trying to cover their backsides, and I do believe there is a court case approaching .Despite the devestating toll it's taken on this ladys life and livlihood she's done a very brave thing in speaking up. It's maddening to know that this is happening, and to think of the effects it's having not only on individuals but on our ecosystem too.

Thankyou so much for commenting about the hockey fields (andthe US chemicals), I wasn't aware of this! Absolutely frightening! :( If you have any links feel free to forward them on.)

We're fortunate too, that we have reasonable access to fresh fruit and vegetables. And are in the early stages of growing our own (see next post). I guess the good to come out of this is awareness(although at what cost?). Which is why it's so important for us all to use our voice. This is NOT okay, but as long as we blindly consume or turn a blind eye we'll continue to get more of the same. I remember being in that camp, I never gave thought to where my food came from, instead buying just the cheapest. But we only know what we know. We are all a work in progress, we can all become a little more conscious, and we can help others do the same.
